Prestige Cleaners Moves Next Week

Here is the answer to one of the most asked questions in Barrington this summer: Monday, Aug. 27.

Here is the question: When is Prestige Cleaners moving to its new location on County Road across the street from Town Hall?

Owner Joe Merlino provided the answer even though a lot of interior work remained to be done on Tuesday morning, Aug. 21.

Merlino said the current location of Prestige Cleaners will be shutting down next Monday morning as the new location opens for business. The sign that says “Future Home of Prestige Cleaners” will be replaced this week with another sign identifying the business.

The new location is in the former Coldwell Banker Real Estate office building. It is slightly larger than his current spot in Prince’s Hill Plaza, Merlino said, part of his reason for moving.

But the much more visible location on County Road at Hamilton Street is the primary reason for his move after 17 years in the plaza, where Merlino launched the business.

“You’ll still be able to drop off in the morning and pick up your dry cleaning in the afternoon,” he said.

Merlino has renovated the interior of the building to hold his pressing equipment in the rear, which was being installed, and his clothing racks, which will be moved to the front of the building over the weekend.

“We aren’t doing any pressing this week,” he said of the current location.

But things will be back to business as usual for Prestige Cleaners in its new home beginning Monday morning, he said.
