RI Athletic Administrators to Honor Past, Current Barrington Teachers, Coaches
John P. Medeiros and Annmarie Marino will be honored on April 4 by the Rhode Island Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.

A former teacher and coach in Barrington for 25 years and a current teacher at the middle school and coach at the high school will be honored by the state’s athletic administrators on April 4.
John P. Medeiros, a former physical education teacher and game announcer at Barrington High, will receive the Distinguished Service to Athletics Award. He and his wife still run the annual J. P. Medeiros Jr. Memorial Cup Hockey Game each January in memory of their son. It raises money for athletic scholarships for Barrington and Mt. Hope high school students.

Annmarie Marino, a teacher at Barrington Middle School and the coach of the high school cross-country team, will receive the Female Coach of the Year award. Her squad won the state championship last fall.
Both will be honored by the Rhode Island Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association at the 2013 RIIAAA Awards Banquet at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick.

A reception will begin at 6 pm, followed by the dinner at 7 pm, said George Finn, BHS athletics director.
Tickets for the event are $35. Checks can be made out to RIIAAA.
