Solar and Wind Turbine Tour with Handmade Candy Tasting

Join Mass Energy, People's Power and Light, and the sisters of Mount St. Mary's Abbey for a renewable energy tour and candy tasting; May 16

Who: People’s Power & Light and Mass Energy, local non-profit organizations working for renewable energy in Rhode Island and Massachusetts; and the Sisters of Mount St. Mary’s Abbey, who have made a commitment to support various types of renewable energy.

What: The Wrentham Solar & Wind Tour and Candy Tasting is back for a second year! Last year, over 70 people of all ages joined this renewable energy tour. This year, the tour will begin by the massive solar fields hosted at Mount St. Mary’s Abbey, and then move to the Sisters’ 100kW wind turbine. You’ll learn about how renewable energy is benefiting the Abbey and the community and will even be able to look inside the wind turbine tower. We’ll end the tour with a tasting of the Sisters’ handmade candy!

The tour is free, open to the public, and suitable for children. Refreshments will be provided.

Why: People’s Power and Light offers the only federally tax-deductible green electricity option in Rhode Island. We purchase renewable energy from sources throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including the Sisters’ wind turbine, pushing dirty fossil fuels off the New England power grid. We will educate the public about the benefits of green power through this tour. Over 70 people joined us for last year’s tour and had a great time!

People’s Power and Light is a non-profit organization dedicated to making energy more affordable and environmentally sustainable in Rhode Island. Our green power members choose to get their electricity from local renewable sources, and last year collectively prevented over 42 million lbs. of C02 from entering the atmosphere.
