One of Barrington's oldest businesses is celebrating 50 years in business today, Feb. 22.

Tom Wallis isn't celebrating his 50th anniversary in a big way.
"I think people will just go in and out all day," he said.

Wallis's mother and father started the business in West Barrington on Feb. 22, 1962. With his brother, Russ, who is no longer in the business, they moved to the 136 Maple Ave. location on Feb. 22 1980.

Vienna Bakery provided the cake, he said. It is displayed on a table next to the lobster tanks along with Rhode Island legislative citations from Barrington Sen. Dave Bates and Barrington Reps. Joy Hearn and Jan Malik and a couple of cards.
