'Unplugged' to Fete 3 From Barrington

Ava Sprague Anderson, Navyn Salem and Jim Stallman, all from Barrington, to be honored at the Providence Children's Museum annual gala, 'Unplugged -- The Way to Play'.

Three Barrington residents will be honored on April 26 at the Providence Children's Museum's annual gala, Unplugged -- The Way to Play.

The gala runs from 6 to 10 pm at the Botanical Center at Roger Williams Park on Elmwood Avenue.

The event celebrates the spirit of creativity and innovation, and the Museum’s role in providing imaginative play and learning experiences for all children and families, according to Megan Fischer, communications director for the children's museum.

“Unplugged – The Way to Play” will honor the following Barrington innovators who exemplify a spirit of creativity:

  • Ava Sprague Anderson, founder and CEO of Ava Anderson Non-Toxic, is committed to educating consumers about health risks and providing personal care products free of harmful chemicals.  The company, which she founded at the age of 15, now has over 30 organic products.
  • Navyn Salem is executive director of Edesia Global Nutrition, a Providence nonprofit that manufactures nutritious ready-to-use foods to treat and prevent childhood malnutrition in developing countries.
  • Jim Stallman is the owner of M.H. Stallman Co., manufacturer of innovative foam products.  From NASA to the operating room, from Washington's National Museum of Art to Hollywood, M.H. Stallman engineers have brought creative solutions to a diversity of product application challenges

More 300 guests are expected to enjoy this festive and fun evening, which features live and silent auctions, music, cocktails and food by Russell Morin Fine Catering, according to Fischer.

Dress is cocktail attire.  Individual tickets are $100; ticket packages start at $500; sponsorships start at $1,500. 

All proceeds benefit the Providence Children’s Museum and will help provide play and learning opportunities for children and families in need.
