Viewfinder: Take a Look at Walker Farm in Early Spring
Conservation area that houses leaf-dumping site, community garden, dock and boat ramp could also become the home to a Barrington-based rowing club.
The 30-acre Walker Farm site on Hundred Acre Cove east of County Road is well-known to Barrington residents as a leaf-disposal site, community garden, fishing spot and boat launch area. Now the East Bay Rowing Club wants to launch shells and kayaks from a low-rise dock put in the water just north of the existing dock.
Restored by the Save the Bay environmental organization, Walker Farm includes a concrete boat ramp, a wooden dock and a sand and gravel shoreline used by fishermen and crabbers. The boat ramp offers access to the cove to the north and the Barrington River flowing south.Â
