Volunteers Step Up to Serve Town

Almost two dozen volunteers were appointed or reappointed to serve on various boards and commissions by the Barrington Town Council at it most recent meeting on Monday evening, Dec. 5.

The appointments came after more than a dozen volunteers were interviewed by the councilors. Everyone received recognition from the Town Council for stepping up to serve Barrington.

Among the most anticipated appointments was for one of Barrington’s three seats on the board of the Bristol County Water Authority. Warren and Bristol also have three seats apiece on the BCWA board.

Kevin J. Fitta was named to fill that post after the resignation of John McElroy Jr. several months ago. , a professional engineer with many years of experience in the public water industry. He fills a term that runs through February, 2013.

Other appointments or reappointments included:

• Noah Szozs to the Building Board of Review for a term that expires in December, 2016.
• Sarah Small to a term on the Cemetery Commission that runs until November, 2014.
• James H. Bride to the Committee for Renewable Energy Barrington to fill a term that runs through November, 2014.
• Alan Klepper to the Committee for Renewable Energy Barrington to fill a term that runs through November, 2014.
• Cynthia Fuller to the Conservation Commission for a term that expires in December, 2014.
• Leslie Weeden to the Conservation Commission for a term that expires in December, 2014.
• Jay Dywer to the Harbor Commission for a term that runs through December, 2014.
• Michael Reuter to the Harbor Commission to fill a term that runs through December, 2014.
• Bradley Chwalk to the Harbor Commission to fill a term that runs through December, 2014.
• Matthew Amaral to the Housing Board of Trustees to fill a term that runs through October, 2014.
• Benjamin Copple as an alternate to the Housing Board of Trustees to fill a term that expires in October, 2014.
• Patricia Byrnes to the Juvenile Hearing Board to fill a term that expires in November, 2014.
• Vincent Wicker to the Library Trustees to fill a term that runs through December, 2014.
• Holly Smith to the Parks and Recreation Commission to fill a term that runs through December, 2014.
• Simeon Hawes to the Parks and Recreation Commission to fill a term that runs through December, 2014.
• Christine O’Grady to the Planning Board to fill a term that expires in May, 2013.
• Philip Anderson to the Senior Center Advisory Board to fill a term that runs through next February
• Patricia Rochford as a second alternate to the Senior Center Advisory Board to fill a term that runs through February, 2014.
• David Rizzolo to the Zoning Board of Review to fill a term that expires in December, 2016.
