'Y' Offers Vacation Camp, Swimming

The Bayside YMCA in Barrington hosts a “vacation camp” for students next week, Feb. 20-24. The YMCA also offers “express swim lessons.”

The school vacation week camp will run daily from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm in grades K to 6. The fee for the week is $142 for members and $163 for non-members. Children also can attend for 2, 3 or 4 days.

Activities and programs include those in art, nature, sports, cooking, outdoor play and swimming. Each child should bring sneakers, shorts or sweat pants and T-shirt or sweatshirt, a morning snack and a bag lunch with a non-carbonated drink as well as lots of water.

Be prepared for outdoor activities if the mild weather permits.

The swimming lessons are designed to jump start beginners and advance beginners with basic techniques.  Swimmers will get instruction from the same teacher for the entire week.

The fee for members is $35 and $75 for non-members. Financial assistance is available. Space is limited for all programs.
