Attorney General To Visit Highlander Charter School

The students will hear about distracted driving.

BRISTOL-WARREN, RI - From the Attorney General's Office of the State of Rhode Island: To educate young drivers on the dangers and deadly consequences of distracted driving, Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin will bring the “It Can Wait” campaign to Highlander Charter School on Wednesday, November 1st at 10:30 a.m.

Students will hear from key officials, watch a powerful documentary featuring young people impacted by distracted driving, and will be asked to sign a pledge to not use their phones while driving. In addition, a student from Highlander Charter School will demonstrate the dangers of distracted driving using the AT&T driving simulator.

Media coverage is invited. The driving simulator will be available for media to experience at the conclusion of the school assembly.

Who: Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin, Rhode Island State Police Sergeant Gregory Cunningham, Brooke Thomson, AT&T Regional Vice President, External Affairs; approximately 80 students (juniors and seniors) from Highlander Charter High School

When: Wednesday, November 1, 2017; 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (Note: The driving simulator will be available for media at the conclusion of the presentation.)
