The first day of school in Bristol-Warren was changed to accommodate the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah.
BRISTOL-WARREN, RI ā Back-to-school planning has already begun, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in the Bristol-Warren Regional School District.
The first day of school was pushed back to accommodate the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah. The first day of school will be Sept. 8, and the last day is scheduled for June 17.
Masks are likely to be back for at least the start of the school year. Rhode Island state leaders called for all school districts to require mask-wearing in schools this fall, regardless of vaccine status. The latest guidance comes following the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention's latest recommendations, which encouraged universal mask-wearing in schools.
The governor, education commissioner and director of the Rhode Island Department of Health issued a joint statement Wednesday, saying the state will continue to follow the CDC's guidance for schools.
