Bites Nearby: Perella's Ristorante

Experience that home-cooked taste of Italy at Perella's.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Bristol-Warren Patch picks a great place to eat either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

, located at 311 Metacom Ave., in Warren, is sure to satisfy your hankering for Italian food. As a matter of fact, Perella's wide range of entrees can pretty much satisfy any craving.

I have been going to Perella's since I was a kid. I'm not really sure what I used to order, but I do remember, quite vividly, how much I loved the fried ice cream for dessert. Perella's has many popular fresh seafood and pasta specials including the Stan Ross Seafood Special and the Cioppino, both placed first in the Pasta Challenge. I personally crave the "Pizzaria Grilled Pizza", a thin crust pizza made with fresh mozzarella, parmesan, basil and marinara. But my favorite part of the whole experience is the fresh, local bakery bread with butter, and fresh baked garlic to smear on the bread yourself. Delizioso!

As for the atmosphere, Perella's has a late-night bar for those who want to relax with a drink and some appetizers (may I suggest the calamari?) and watch the game. It is also a family-owned restaurant so for families, the restaurant has booth seating, and for parties, Perella's has a banquet room that seats up to 50.

In the coming weeks, Perella's will be serving  specials that offer a glimmer of summer; chicken with sun-dried tomatoes and pinenuts served over tricolor tortellini, and fresh Prudence Island mussels provencal. Saturday nights they serve up prime rib, cajun or garlic butter swordfish, and sliced tenderloin with mushroom gravy.
