Boy, 6, Dies In Bristol Crash: Police

The 6-year-old was riding his bike on the East Bay Bike Path when he was struck by a car driven by a 21-year-old woman.

BRISTOL, R.I. — A 6-year-old Somerset boy is dead after he was struck by a car while riding his bike at the East Bay Bike Path Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Rhode Island State Police are investigating the crash, which occurred just before 3:30 p.m. on Poppasquash Road. The victim was rushed by ambulance to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle was driven by a 21-year-old woman from Canton, Conn. She has not been identified as no charges have been filed.

Police said the crash is still under investigation, but the indications are that the car, a 2007 Ford, was traveling west on Poppasqush Road and struck the boy.
