CVS Caremark Colleagues Collect More Than 1,000 Pounds of Trash during Shoreline Cleanup at Colt State Park
CVS Caremark colleagues collected more than 1,000 pounds of trash this weekend at Rhode Island's Colt State Park.
On Saturday, June 15, CVS Caremark colleagues from across Rhode Island teamed up with Ocean Conservancy to clean up a portion of Colt State Park in an effort to preserve the state’s shorelines and waterways. CVS Caremark colleagues worked together to remove more than 1,000 pounds of trash from Colt State Park. Each item was tracked and weighed onsite.
The event was part of a national environmental employee engagement campaign, The CVS Caremark Shoreline Cleanup, in partnership with Ocean Conservancy, an organization that educates and empowers citizens to take action on behalf of the ocean. The campaign has provided CVS Caremark colleagues with the opportunity to make a difference in their local communities and raise awareness of how clean and healthy waterways are a vital component of helping people on their path to better health. To-date, colleagues have collected thousands of pounds of trash at cleanup events from San Diego to Miami.
The event at Colt State Park marked the fifth location of the CVS Caremark Shoreline Cleanup, which has visited Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, Florida; Elm Fork Trinity River in Dallas, Texas; Montrose Beach in Chicago, Illinois; and Emerald Hills in San Diego, California. These combined efforts have resulted in CVS colleagues collecting more than 22,000 pounds of trash. A few of the unique pieces of trash collected to date include sofas, tractor tires, a safe, sinks, shopping carts, mattresses, TVs and computer monitors.
