Bristol County Savings Bank Appoints Bristol's John Silva to Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending for Rhode Island

TAUNTON, MA, October 18 2016 — Bristol County Savings Bank (BCSB), headquartered in Taunton, Massachusetts, announces the appointment of John Silva to the position of Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending for Rhode Island. In this capacity, Silva will be overseeing, managing and developing a team of commercial bankers within the Rhode Island market who are responsible for maintaining, servicing and growing business loan, cash management and deposit relationships.

Prior to joining Bristol County Savings Bank, Silva held several positions at Santander and its predecessor banks for more than 25 years. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, New England Regional Director in Santander Bank’s Business Banking Department. Previously, Silva was the Business Banking Executive overseeing the lending team responsible for the Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts area. For most of his tenure at Santander, he worked out of its Providence, Rhode Island office with the exception being a two-year stint as Market Manager with the downtown Boston Business Banking Department.

Silva is active as a Board Member for the Business Development Company of Rhode Island, where he has also served on the Executive Committee. In addition, he is a Board Member for the New Bedford Chamber of Commerce and volunteers on various other committees, including the Chafee World Trade Day Committee and the Rhode Island Bankers Association’s Fundamentals of Commercial Lending Committee.

Silva earned his Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston, Rhode Island, and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Roger Williams University, Bristol, Rhode Island. Silva resides in Bristol with his wife and children.
