Bristol Family Escapes House Fire

The family moved to Bristol just recently and run a restaurant next door.

A family of five people are unharmed but their house and possessions were destroyed in a fire at 531 Wood St. in Bristol Saturday night.

The fire broke out at around 7:30 p.m. and moved quickly through the multi-family house, sending a large plume of smoke high into the air as a large crowd gathered to watch firefighters battle the blaze.

Members of the family who lived in the house said they had just moved to Bristol recently and opened Sawa Asian Bistro next door.

Vicky Jiang told reporters that she was working at the restaurant when she saw the house catch fire.

She said she rushed outside to find her mother and baby daughter.

“We were afraid they stayed inside,” she told WPRI.

Everyone got out OK but the devastating has dealt the family a tremendous blow as virtually everything was destroyed.
