Bristol Gun Buyback Nets Nearly 100 Firearms
The program was aimed at reducing suicide risk in the community.

BRISTOL, RI — This weekend's gun buyback program at the Bristol Police Department was a success, the department said, collecting nearly 100 unwanted firearms.
"The event was a major success and achieved its purpose of bringing awareness to suicide prevention and harm reduction efforts to the community," the department said.
The event was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The department offered up to $500 for certain types of guns, and accepted both functioning and non-functioning firearms.

A photo shared by the department showed some of the collected guns, which included long guns and rifles as well as a selection of handguns.
