BRISTOL, RI — Bristol residents got a sneak peak at the town's soon-to-come trash and recycle carts on Thursday. The town expects the roll out of the new program to begin next month.

"Have you heard? Exciting changes are rolling into Bristol this spring!" the town wrote in a post of Facebook featuring photos of new trash and recycle carts.

The photo shows tall, rolling carts with lids, one green and the other blue. Deliveries of the new carts are set to begin in March.

The town operates under a "no bin, no barrel" trash policy, meaning that if the trash or recycling bin is not at the curb at the time of pickup, it will not be collected. Even if it has already been emptied, the recycling cart must stay with the trash until both have been collected.

"This may seem redundant but remember there are nearly 2000 stops per day, and this is the safest and most proficient way for the town to ensure recycling has occurred at every one of those stops," the town website explains.
