Bristol PD's 'Brody' Running For Police Dog Funding

Bristol police are hoping the community will help them get a $15,000 K9 Grant to support its canine unit.

BRISTOL, RI — The Bristol Police Department wants folks to vote for "Brody" as part of a campaign to garner funding from a national trauma cleaning and biohazard firm.

Bristol is hoping to get a $15,000 Aftermath K9 Grant for the northeast region of the U.S.

It is competing against several other regional police departments with canine units.

There are several classifications eligible for the grant based on the populations served by the departments.

Aftermath is a specialty cleaning firm often utilized by law enforcement to clean up situations such as post-trauma events and biohazard issues.

It is a national company that has a Rhode Island office in East Providence.

The grant is part of a partnership with law enforcement agencies to provide funding to help police departments purchase supplies for their police dogs, training aids, safety products, and protective gear for the animal heroes.

Voting is online and folks can choose "Brody" through Monday, Oct. 31.

People are being asked to vote often to try and get Coventry the grant.

Each entry from a police department includes a name and address for the department, along with a photo of the dog.
