Bristol Police Looking For Man Accused Of Conning Woman Out Of $3,500

Police said the woman hired the man for a bathroom project, gave him a $3,500-deposit, then he cashed it and cut off communication with her.

BRISTOL, RI — Police in Bristol are looking for a man they said tricked an 81-year-old woman into giving him $3,500.

Richard McDermott, 38, is wanted on the following charges: Obtaining money under false pretenses and exploitation of the elderly.

Police said the woman hired McDermott to renovate her bathroom. She gave him a $3,500-deposit upfront for the work, according to police.

Police said McDermott stopped all communications with the woman after cashing her check.
