BRISTOL, RI — Bristol police officers participated in No-Shave November this year, and even spread it into December for a good cause.

The police union, IBPO Local 304, used the stand-alone initiative by letting officers grow facial hair if they raise money for a local cause. Specifically, police said the money will support the children of Colt Andrews, Guitaras, and Rockwell schools with earmarked funds through the PTA/PTO in aiding with the costs of field trips, yearly school pictures and more.

"The men and women of the Bristol Police Department are proud to announce the raising of $1,200 in this first-year initiative," a police union spokesperson said on Facebook. "Thank you to the community members who donated, and the support of Chief Kevin Lynch and Town Administrator Steven Contente."
