Bristol Post Office To Be Named For Andrew McKenna
Congress is considering naming the post office on Hope Street for First Sergeant P. Andrew McKenna Jr., who died fighting in Kabul in 2015.

BRISTOL, RIā Congress is considering naming the post office on Hope Street for First Sergeant P. Andrew McKenna Jr., who died fighting in Kabul in 2015, U.S. Cong. David Cicilline's office said. The post office, which is located at 515 Hope St., would be renamed as the āFirst Sergeant P. Andrew McKenna Jr. Post Office.ā

āThroughout his life, Sergeant McKenna represented the very highest examples of service, duty, and sacrifice,ā said Cicilline. āI thank the Committee for moving forward to honor this great man and the life he led. We should have a permanent reminder of the values that Sergeant McKenna embodied and the ultimate sacrifice he made in defense of our country.ā
U.S. Cong. James Langevin, D-RI, is co-sponsoring the bill. A similar Senate version was introduced by Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI).

McKenna graduated from Mount Hope High in Bristol. He continued his education at Norwich University, where he was graduated magna cum laude with a degree in strategic studies. McKenna served 17 years in the military and completed five tours of duty in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. He was decorated with the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service medal.
