Perry goes before the Barrington zoning board on Jan. 19 for a special-use permit to open her shop in space adjacent to theĀ . She is leasing space from Wild Flower owner Kathy Luther.

For Perry, operating a retail store will be ā€œa new endeavor". But she has plenty of experience helping to run her husband’s building contractor business, and she has worked for Blackstone Caterers.

Perry also is a recent graduate of the culinary program at Bristol Community College in Fall River. She can’t wait to put her education and talent to use.

ā€œI’ve got the kitchen equipment already,ā€ she said. ā€œHe’ll be building my bakery for me.ā€

She was referring to her husband. They have two sons, ages 6 and 8.

Perry expects to open her doors around March 1, presuming she gets all the approvals she needs from Barrington and the RI health department.

Cakes will definitely be her specialty, she said, including gluten-free pastries.

ā€œI love to do wedding cakes,ā€ she said. ā€œThat’s my favorite.ā€

Perry plans to be open six days a week, Tuesday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.
