Bristol Resident Takes Second Place in Screenplay Competition

According to the Rhode Island International Film Festival, a Bristol resident and Providence resident took second in the competition.

One Bristol man was recently recognized for his screenwriting talents by the Rhode Island International Film Festival.

According to a release, The RI Film & TV Office and Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) announced the second place winner in the Spotlight on Rhode Island Screenplay Competition was ā€˜Old Hoss’, written by Kevin Faria, of Bristol and Duncan Putney, of Providence.

Faria and Putney will join grand prize winner Peter D. Spameni of Smithfield, as guests at this year’s Providence Oscar NightĀ® America to be held on Feb. 26, at The Vets in Providence.

The release states that this was the first year for the competition that invited screenwriters from around the world to submit their original screenplays set in Rhode Island that feature the State’s geography and demography as characters.

According to the release, finalist scripts were read and judged by industry professionals: Steven FeinbergĀ (RI Film & TV Office Director & writer), Michael CorrenteĀ (film producer, director & writer),Ā Anne MulhallĀ (casting director) andĀ Michael CorsoĀ (film financier).

The winning script will receive five free pitches to Hollywood studios and producers on VirtualPitchfest.com and a copy of Final Draft 8 screenwriting software, plus a VIP ticket to Providence Oscar NightĀ® America.
