In each class, we will taste five different wines from a variety of regions, compare and contrast them, and learn a little about grape varietals and winemaking practices, with a focus on wines that offer good value for your money. Discover a favorite new grape varietal or taste wines from a region you’ve never tried. We’ll be drinking wine and having a good time!

June 4: White Wines Learn about aromatic and non-aromatic grape varietals and how they impact winemaking and taste.
July 9: Summer Red Wines Learn some of the winemaking methods that impact the body of the wine. Find your favorite summer-friendly red wines to enjoy long after the class ends.

Looking for a fun, active, and uniquely coastal way to kick off your June? Whether you’ve never dipped an oar in the water or you’re looking to get back into the rhythm, come celebrate National Learn to Row Day with the Whirlygigs Rowing group and friends!
Yes, it’s a real thing! Celebrated across the country on the first Saturday in June, National Learn to Row Day is all about sharing the joy of being on the water. Here in the East Bay, we are keeping it completely relaxed, family-friendly, and focused on fun.
This is your chance to try out a fantastic, eclectic fleet of rowboats. We will have a wide variety of traditional craft on hand to explore, including:
<ul><li>The sleek Silver Lining * The beautiful Cady and Lady Moody</li><li>Classic dinghies, traditional coracles, and the Bullocks’ Cove fleet</li><li>Kayaks, jolly boats, and more!</li></ul>
No experience? No problem! Our friendly local volunteers (just look for the folks in the red shirts!) will be on the beach and in the water to help you pick the perfect boat, get launched safely, and share a few pointers so you can master the basics—or at least avoid crashing into each other too much!
What’s provided:
<ul><li>All boats, oars, and life jackets (PFDs) are provided on-site.</li><li>Complimentary coffee, donuts, snacks, and water to keep your energy up.</li><li>Ziploc bags to keep your phones dry while you're out on the water.</li></ul>
What to bring:
Just your sense of adventure, comfortable clothes that can get a little damp, and the whole family!
Follow the signs from the Bike Path right down to the sand at Warren Town Beach. Come for an hour or stay for the morning—we can't wait to row with you!
Safety Note: For everyone's peace of mind, we will have dedicated safety kayak patrols on the perimeter and coordination with the local Harbor Patrol. All participants must follow volunteer guidance and wear a provided life jacket before heading out.

Join Lidia in this easy, magical, and relaxing adventure into the world of freedom and creativity, after which you will take home a masterpiece created by your own hands. We aren’t going to learn how to paint or try complex techniques, but to observe how the paint lives and reacts on the fabric, directing it wherever our imagination wants the paint to go. During this master class, you will tap into your creativity and “grow” your unique flower.

First Congregational Church 300High St in Bristol 

The Bristol County Chorus will be presenting its Spring concert, entitled Together, in two concerts in June at Holy Angels Church 341 Maple Ave in Barrington on Saturday June 6th
at 7pm and at the First Congregational Church 300High St in Bristol on Sunday June 7th at 3 pm. The concert will include a selection of music with themes of community, solidarity and belonging with a variety of pop, gospel and world music providing a night of entertainment for young and old. Several chorus favorites such as Skyfall, Make Your Own Kind of Music, How Can I Keep from Singing, In a Distance and other contemporary pieces will also be presented. The chorus is conducted by Director of Music Nicholas Rocha. Mr. Rocha enters his eighth year as Director of the ensemble, which he has served in various capacities since 2014. He holds a master’s degree in choral conducting from The Boston Conservatory as well as a B.A. in music from Vassar College.

Bristol Art Museum

The Bristol Art Museum will host a hands-on workshop, Experimental Drawing with artist Pamela Seymour Smith Sharp, on Wed., Jun 10, from 12 to 4 p.m.

This class takes a different approach to working with letterforms. It begins with an introduction to single-stroke-written Roman Capital letters, using the “Ideal Letters” developed by Fr. Edward M. Catich as a point of reference. Fr. Catich was a calligrapher, teacher, and scholar whose study of Roman inscriptions shaped modern understanding of how classical Roman Capital letters were originally written.

Participants will look closely at how the letters are constructed such as the stroke order, proportions, and subtle geometry that give them their balance and clarity. From there, the session moves into more open territory. Rather than focusing on perfect replication, participants will be encouraged to experiment by developing their own alphabets and working through the movement and rhythm of drawing letters by hand. Each person will leave with a finished piece created during the workshop.

“Roman Capitals can look deceptively simple, but they require a trained eye and a steady hand,” Sharp said. “In this class, we start with that structure, then loosen it a bit. The goal isn’t perfection, rather it’s to explore what happens when you really engage with the form.”

Sharp studied with Father Catich in the 1970s and brings a long perspective to the work. She recalls the discipline of those early lessons and how they continue to shape her approach today. That balance between structure and freedom is at the heart of this class.

The workshop is open to visual artists, designers, and anyone interested in letterforms. No prior experience is required. Organizers note that this is not a traditional calligraphy class, but a drawing-based exploration of written forms.

Cost: $55 for members, $65 for non-members

Let the fireworks begin under Blithewold Mansion’s event tent as Encore Opera presents a program celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with classic American opera arias and ensembles, musical theatre favorites, and a patriotic salute to the armed forces. The concert features Boston soprano Kate Wood, Bristol tenor Michael DiMucci, Encore Opera’s superb baritone René de la Garza, and the fabulous 1776 Band. Take in the gorgeous sunset over Narragansett Bay while celebrating this patriotic occasion.
