The Bristol Fire Department is running a Citizens Fire Academy this week for people 18 or older with a connection to Bristol.

BRISTOL, RI — For the first time ever, the Fire Department is holding Citizens Fire Academy. The classes, which will run Thursday nights for nine weeks, start this week on April 6. They're limited to 12 participants.
The fire academy is open to residents 18 or older, as well as to people who work or attend school in Town. There's no charge, but the fire department will require a background check. The other requirement is a commitment to arrive on time and not to miss more than two classes.
The classes last from 6 to 9 p.m.
