Culprit Left Calling Card at the Scene: Police Allege
Warren police say Newport's Joshua Strother surrendered last week.

WARREN, RI— Joshua Strother, 23, of Newport, was charged on Jan. 6 at 11:45 p.m. with breaking into the Subway Sandwich Shop at 509 Main St.
He turned himself in, police said, after they found his wallet at the scene.
Warren officers had responded to an alarm call at the Subway on Dec. 27 at 11:55 p.m. Although they did not find signs of forced entry, they did find a wallet beside a bulkhead door located in the rear of the Subway. Identification within the wallet revealed it belonged to the suspect, Joshua Strother.

Then, on Dec. 28, a Subway employee called police to complain someone had entered the shop after it was closed.
Based on further investigation and review by the Rhode Island Attorney General's office, it was determined there was sufficient probable cause for an arrest warrant for Strother, and the Warren police issued an arrest warrant for Breaking & Entering into a Building with Felonious Intent, Deputy Chief Joseph R. Loiselle said.
