Deer Signs?

My employee came into work yesterday and the first thing he said was "I grazed a deer by the college this morning."
Apparently he was heading south toward the Mt.Hope Bridge when the deer dashed in front of his car from the median. Luckily he was only going 20mph and he was okay , the car sustained a small amount of damage and the deer seemed relatively unharmed.

I'm sure many of you have seen the deer out and about in that area especially during dawn and dusk. In fact they're spotted in a number of areas in Bristol according to the many pictures in Facebook. Which gets me to the point - What happened to all the Deer Crossing signs that were on 136 and on Gooding Avenue?
My employee was lucky he's aware of the animals and is on the look out, but what about the many people to travel those roads who aren't - Hitting a deer can be a tragic end to the animal as well to the people in the car.

I have no idea when or why the signs are no longer there but I think they should be back. Fore warned is Fore "unharmed" for all involved...
