East Bay Warriors Take to the Fields on Aug. 1

The inaugural season of the East Bay Warriors begins with practices on Aug. 1

This new program is a recent merger of the Bristol Mustangs and Warren-Swansea Redskin Pop Warner cheerleading and football programs.  This year, a dance team will also be offered. Pop Warner programs have no tryouts or cutting of rosters.

East Bay Warriors consist of athletes in the towns of Bristol, Warren, and Swansea MA.  Their practices and games will be played at Veteran’s Field (Kickemuit Middle School) in Warren RI, with games under the lights on Saturday nights.

Teams include:

Tiny Mite (5-7yo), Mitey Mite (7-9yo), Jr PeeWee (8-10 …and light 11yos), PeeWee 9-11 …and light 12 yo), Jr Midget (10-12 yo… and light 13 yo), and Midget (11-14… and light 15 yo)(for the football players there are weight requirements which is why ages overlap).

The program runs from August – October with Championships (which could land a team (football, dance, or cheer) at the Pop Warner National Championships in Disney World in early December. The local Pop Warner athletes are held to academic standards as well. 

Sign-ups are available at the field on Aug. 1 at 5:30, which is also the first day of practices. Practices in August are Monday – Friday, from 6 to 8 pm, although it may vary slightly be team. There is also a signup on Thursday evening, July 29, at Veterans Field from 6:30 -8pm

Practices during the school year are three days OR six hours a week with the majority of the Games (home) on Saturdays under the lights at Veterans Field.  Away games on Saturday or Sunday (depending on field location). 

This is a travel league.  The other leagues in the Conference are: Edgewood Eagles (Cranston area), Barrington Eagles, Dighton-Rehoboth Falcons, Fall River Falcons, New Bedford Bears, Fairhaven/Acushnet Blue Devils, Old Rochester (Rochester, Marion, Mattapoisett) Bull Dogs, Dartmouth Indians, Sakonnet (Tiverton, Little Compton, Westport) Schooners, Portsmouth Patriots, Middleton/Newport Islanders.

To support this new association with donations to help with uniforms  contact any of the Board Members (information can be found on www.ebwarriors.com ) or sign up to attend their golf tournament on Aug. 19.

What are the Fees? 
(Payment plans available)   One Participant  - $100 per participant plus $25 fundraising fee; Two Participants - $160 plus $50 fundraising fee;  Three or more participants - $210 plus $25 fundraising fee per player.

Who Can Join?
Any child ages 5-15, all levels of experience welcome.

What is required?
All Participants must have the following: Registration Forms and Fees (forms are available on the website, download them, fill them out and bring with you to save time at registration); Medical release/physical dated after January 1, 2010; State issued Birth Certificate (first year players only) - Hospital certificate not valid; Year end Report Card - Needed by Aug. 1
