Encounter with Somali Pirates: A Lecture by Captain Richard Phillips

The Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol presents this lecture.  In early April 2009 the Maersk Alabama, a large US container ship, was boarded by four Somali pirates. Captain Richard Phillips was taken hostage in a life raft and held by three pirates. Phillips was rescued by Navy SEALS on April 12, 2009 after days with the pirates on board the life raft.
