Mario Gabelli, Namesake of Business School, Will Speak at RWU

One of Wall Street’s best-known money managers, Mario J. Gabelli, is coming to Roger Williams University for a special public presentation. “Creating Alpha Through Research: Plain Old Stock Picking – Does It Work?” will help investors better understand the role of research and the impact of speculation in their investments.

Gabelli is the founder, chairman and CEO of Gabelli Asset Management Company (GAMCO) Investors, a well-known diversified asset manager and financial services company. Forbes Magazine first ranked Gabelli as a billionaire in 2006; in 2010, the magazine ranked him #937 on its Forbes list of the World’s Billionaires with a net worth of $1 billion. Last month, Institutional Investor named him 2010’s Money Manager of the Year.

Gabelli is a leading proponent of the Graham & Dodd principles of security analysis and is a pioneer in applying these principles to the analysis of global, cash-generating, franchise companies in a wide range of industries. The namesake of RWU’s Gabelli School of Business, he is also a member of the University’s Board of Trustees.
