Middle East Partnership Initiative: An Open Discussion with Student Leaders from the Middle East

George Hail Library welcomes university students from the Middle East and North Africa who have come to Rhode Island as participants in the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) Student Leaders Programs.

The students, who are recruited by the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in their home countries, seek to develop leadership skills and to expand their understanding of civil society as well as the democratic process. Most importantly, they hope to determine how this knowledge may be applied in their home communities.

Students will share first-hand information about their lives in the Middle East. Questions from the audience regarding society or culture, and/or political movements such as the Arab Spring will be welcomed.
