The USS Carter Hall is in Bristol for the 4th of July celebrations and is open for visitors from 1 to 5 pm, July 3-5.
The USS Carter Hall is a 610-foot dock landing ship home ported at Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek, VA. She is commanded by CCR Damon K. Amaral, a native of Coventry, RI.
Visitors should expect a 30-40 minute shuttle boat ride from the Coast Guard Station at the foot of Constitution Street in Bristol, out to the ship at anchor. The first boats will leave at 12:30 pm each day and then every half hour. There is limited street parking in the area.

Here are some other things to note: Children must be accompanied by parents and strict security is in place; bags will be searched and a photo ID is necessary. The tour includes climbing several stairways on the ship. Strollers cannot be pushed on the ship and there are no handicapped access points. Comortable walking shoes are advised.
