2016 Fireside Lecture Series, Wednesday, January 20th with David S. Robinson
Join us at Mount Hope Farm this winter for our Fireside Lecture Series! Don't let the dark and chilly evenings keep you at home...

Providence Harbor’s “Ship Graveyard” – Wednesday, January 20 (Snow Date January 27)
Presented in collaboration with the Bristol Historical & Preservation Society
David Robinson, a marine archaeologist at the URI Graduate School of Oceanography, will present his recent Sea Grant-funded research that found 26 shipwrecks, including the Mount Hope and the Bay Queen. Iconic Steamboats were active during Narragansett Bay’s heyday as RI’s playground in the late 1800s. David will discuss the challenges of studying, managing and protecting these submerged resources, their potential value to tourism and education, and importance as a habitat for returning pioneer wildlife.
