East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) will hold a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration in honor of its new East Bay Recovery Center on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at 31 Railroad Avenue in Warren, RI. People interested in attending may register on Eventbrite.

Among those expected to attend the Ribbon Cutting ceremony are Rebecca Boss, Director of the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH); Kate Michaud, Warren Town Manager; State Representative Susan Donovan (D), Bristol; State Representative June Speakman (D), Bristol-Warren; and numerous recovery advocates.

“There was a major need for recovery support services in the East Bay,” states Tommy Joyce, East Bay Recovery Center Director. “We opened a 9-hour a week Recovery Center a little over a year ago in Bristol and during that time, we saw the dire need for more availability to provide recovery support services to the East Bay. Thanks to the vision and leadership of East Bay Community Action Program and the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals, we have ‘boots on the ground’ full time in the East Bay to provide peer-to-peer recovery support services,” Joyce explains.

“Recovery is possible. We are pleased to expand the East Bay Recovery Center into a full-time recovery community center,” states Robert Crossley, EBCAP’s Vice President of Behavioral Health. “It will offer folks fellowship and support in their recovery.”

BHDDH’s Director, Rebecca Boss, adds, “The Department congratulates East Bay Community Action Program on expanding its Recovery Center to improve access for recovery support services. The leadership of EBCAP and East Bay Recovery Center understands the importance of providing the recovery community with an environment that is safe and helps build on an individual’s journey in recovery.” Director Boss concludes, “We appreciate their responsiveness and dedication to focus on this need in their community.”

The expansion to a full-time Recovery Center, offering services six days a week, was made possible through funding from BHDDH. The East Bay Recovery Center offers peer-to-peer recovery services that connect those in any type of addiction recovery to others in recovery and provides support and activities that help lead to long-term recovery.

The Recovery Center’s hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. -1 p.m. No appointment is needed – walk-ins are welcome. Services are free, and it is open to all residents of Bristol, Warren, Barrington, and East Providence, as well as surrounding RI communities. Among its support services are: All-Recovery Meetings, Recovery Coach Academies, Expungement Workshops, Family Support Groups, Recovery Coaching, Community Events, Telephone Recovery Support, Naloxone Training and Distribution, and Wellness Activities.

The East Bay Recovery Center is part of EBCAP’s full-service healthcare network, operating at locations throughout the East Bay, which also includes integrated behavioral and primary care, dental health, and a wide array of social services.
