Manuel Tavares, 88, Landscaper, Janitor

Manuel Tavares, of First School Street, Bristol passed away on November 8, 2013. He was 88.

He was the husband of the late Olivia (Resendes) Tavares. Born in Cabouco Lagna, St. Michael, he was the son of the late Jose and Rosalina (Correia) Tavares.

He was the father of Manuel A. Tavares, Joseph A. Tavares, Adriano Tavares and Maria A. Brisson; the grandfather of Michael Tavares, Jessica Tavares, Zachary Brisson, Cory Brisson and Taylor Brisson; the brother of Liduina Amorim, Clotilde Soares, Conceicao, Barbosa, Leonilde Gaspar and the late Joao Tavares and Floriano Tavares. 

He was employed as a landscaper for DaPonte Landscaping for 5 years and prior to that worked as a janitor for Pearson Yachts for 20 years. 

His funeral services will be held today, November 11, at 8 am from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., Bristol with a Mass of Christian Burial, at 9 am at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.
