Mount Hope Bridge Deck Work Ends Friday
Friday, June 23, is supposed to be the last day of work on the Mount Hope Bridge's concrete driving surface.

BRISTOL, RI — The work on Mount Hope Bridge's deck is supposed to wrap up, as of Friday, June 23, according to the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority. The job, which started last March, included repairing a number of concrete spalls (or potholes) and installing 12 new“test sections.”
The test sections are part of a three-year effort to find the best roadway deck material to use for future improvements on the Mount Hope Bridge, RITBA said. Engineers will study the performance of the 12 different test sections to assess a variety of different asphalt and concrete materials. Meanwhile, the lane closures are over for now.
"There will be no lane closures associated with this project on the Mount Hope Bridge beginning June 29 and running through September 10," RITBA said.
