Mt. Hope High School Assistant Principal Appointed as Principal in Newport
Jaime Crowley was appointed as the new Thompson Middle School principal after a unanimous vote.

The Newport School Committee unanimously voted to approve the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. John H. Ambrogi to appoint Jaime Crowley as Principal of during last Thursday's school commitee meeting. The appointment is effective July 1, 2011.
Current Thompson principal
Crowley is a resident of Newport, holds an undergraduate and master’s degree from Boston College and a certificate of advance study of education from Boston University.

Crowley has been an Assistant Principal at Mt. Hope High School since 2007, and has been actively involved as a curriculum facilitator and trainer in both the Bristol-Warren Regional School District and for the Rhode Island Department of Education.
Jaime was the Rhode Island Assistant Principal of the Year in 2010 and additionally was the Rhode Island Milken Educator of the Year in 2010.

The school committee and superintendent said they look forward to Crowley’s leadership skills and commitment to the Newport community to enhance educational opportunities for the students who attend Thompson Middle School.
