Mt. Hope High School Sports Teams Recognized For Their Dedication

Mt. Hope High School held its All Sports Awards Night Wednesday. All teams were recognized and many awards were handed out to various students.

 recognized some of their outstanding sports teams and athletes with an All Sports Awards Night on Wednesday, June 8. The award ceremony was held in the auditorium to commemorate athletic accomplishments.

Every seat was filled with parents, family, and friends who gathered to support all that the students have accomplished this year. The energy and the enthusiasm of the audience quickly built and stayed at a high throughout the event as family, faculty, and students cheered for the teams. Sam Booth, father of two Mt. Hope students, was one of the many cheering parents. 

“I’m definitely proud of both of them,” said Booth. “It’s a lot of work. It’s a big commitment.”

Abigail Booth, a senior, was on the lacrosse team. She also participated in fall cheerleading and competitive cheerleading. Her brother, Aaron Booth, a junior, was on the football team and captain of the lacrosse team.

To represent these students, Athletic Director hosted the ceremony. One by one each team was called up to the stage to be recognized. Each team received awards including Most Valuable Player, the Sportsmanship Award, and the Coach’s Award/Rookie of the Year.

Principal Donald Rebello gave a short speech addressing his delight in the dedication and sportsmanship shown by all the students.

“This is a great testimony to our kids and the culture of our community,” Rebello said.

After addressing the audience Rebello handed out the “3 sport” awards. The “3 sport” award is handed out to seniors who participate in a sport each season. This year, 18 seniors were presented with the award.

The All Sports Awards Night was preceded with food and beverages in the band room. The reception was sponsored by the Mt. Hope Booster Club. As the evening came to an end, enthusiasm and pride in the year’s accomplishments never wavered.
