Mt. Hope Robotics Team Hosts 'Sendoff to St Louis' Fundraiser

Tickets must be purchased by Sunday, April 8.

The Robotics Team used skill and knowledge to . Now, the team will be using their public outreach skills to help fund getting there.

"Our big push is to gather more sponsors and donations, while continuing to outreach to the community to learn more about Robotics," said Sheila Morris-Sardinha, mother of the Tater Bots #3351 team captain, Jake. "We're finding when people learn what this program is about, recognize the huge success these kids have earned and what this program is doing for our community, support is behind them."

On Thursday, April 12, the Mt. Hope Robotics team will host a St Louis style fundraiser dinner, called Sendoff to St Louis, at the Ballroom in Bristol. From 5 to 9 pm, friends, family and supporters can join the team to dine on St Louis ribs, pizza, coleslaw, corn bread, and dessert. The event will also feature music, a silent auction, the ability to 'drive' a robot, take a picture with the team mascot 'Spud and more.

"We recognize there are several things going on in our civic minded community on a Thursday night in April, but we fashioned it so anyone can come for the night, or just stop by, anytime between 5 to 9 pm, enroute to wherever they are coming or going."

Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased by Easter, April 8. Anyone interested in getting tickets or simply offering a donation to help fund the trip for the students can contact Sardinah by email at  blingbling1011@cox.net or by phone at 401.253.1011. Tickets may also be purchased from robotics students or their parents.
