No Surprise - Jack Reed Cruises to 4th Senate Term

Rhode Island's senior ranking U.S. Senator, Jack Reed, has easily been reelected to a fourth six-year term.

Within minutes of the closure of polls at 8 p.m., U.S. Sen. Jack Reed is the projected winner in Rhode Island’s Second District Senate race.

With just two of the state’s 419 precincts reporting at 8:30 p.m., the perennially high-polling Reed has 81 percent of the vote and there’s little doubt he’ll cruise to victory by a wide margin over his opponent, Republican Mark S. Zaccaria.

The most Brown University poll last week showed Reed had a huge advantage, getting favorable marks from 65 percent of those surveyed as opposed to Zaccaria’s 20 percent.
