Not Enough Young People Signing Up for Obamacare

Those who are enrolling in government-subsidized private insurance through Obamacare are much grayer than what experts say is needed.

In order to keep premiums down, more young adults between 18 and 34 would need to sign up. As of now, only 24 percent of the total enrollment is in that age group. Experts say that needs to increase to about 40 percent, reported the Associated Press.

The biggest group who have signed up are in the more costly 55 to 64 age group. They make up 33 percent of enrollment.

If enrollment stays the same, experts warn that plan premiums and taxpayer costs per enrollee will increase.
