Obituary: Emily DiGiorgio
The lifelong Bristol resident died Tuesday and will be laid to rest Sept. 25.

Mrs. Emily M. (Martinelli) DiGiorgio, 93, of 16 Gorham Place, Bristol, died Tuesday, September 18 at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Domenic DiGiorgio.
Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Silvio and Cristina (Venditti) Martinelli. She worked for a number of years as a fine mender for the former Collins and Aikman Co. and Converse Rubber Company, formerly in Bristol. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol.
Described as a stylish dresser, she was an excellent cook and baker, loving time spent with family and friends at her home, around the table. She was firm believer of celebrating the Bristol 4th of July. Emily loved to sew and knit, and traveling with her late husband when he served in the Army. She particularly enjoyed time they spent in Southern California and South Dakota.

She is survived by a daughter, Rose D. Goltman and her husband John of Portsmouth; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Goltman and her husband James Colleran of Newport; and a sister, Mary Silva of Worcester, MA. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Albert and Oliver Diodati, and a sister, Virginia Botelho.
Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNS of Newport and Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871 or to the Bristol Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 775, Bristol, RI 02809.
