Obituary: Francis "Bud" Carey, 81

Francis "Bud" Carey, 81, of Warren, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol.

Francis ā€œBudā€ Carey, 81, of Warren, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol.

He was the husband of Ethel A. (Lessard) Carey, they were married for over 52 years.

ā€œBudā€ was born in Providence a son of the late William and Anna( Langton) Carey.

Mr. Carey was a Supervisor for the State Dept. of Vocational Rehab., for the State of R.I. for over 30 years before retiring.

He was a Warren resident for over 52 years coming from Providence.
Mr. Carey was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Church, a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was also on the Juvenile Hearing Board, and the George Haile Library Board. Mr. Carey was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was past Grand Knight of the Fatima Council of Foxpoint.

Bud was involved Warren Little League, and enjoyed bowling.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Michael Carey and Elizabeth Squillace of Wethersfield, Ct., Steven Carey of Stephens City VA., Paul and Kristina Carey of Holliston, MA.

Also survived by his sisters, Winifred Marie Carey, R.S.M of Cumberland, RI, Nancy Perry of Sagamore, MA.

Mr. Carey was the grandfather of Emma, Meaghan, Mara, Timothy, Jacob, Kaelyn, Richard, Haley, Charles, and Shaun. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carey was the brother of the late William Carey, Rita Masi , Anita Carey, and Jane Carey.

His funeral will be held Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 9:00am from the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St. Warren, burial in South Burial Ground.

Relatives and friends invited to attend, visiting hours Monday from 4- 7pm.
