I love the small playground at Water Street and Baker, near the Wharf Tavern and across Baker Street from our offices. In the late afternoon school age boys are often there, playing war games, yelling happily, and working out the age-old conflicts of childhood. So nice to see kids playing safely outdoors. The playground is in need of some TLC, however, as well as better trash control. But it is a neighborhood gem. My favorite feature is the swinging gate on a pole! My least favorite is the steel slide chute: way too hot in the summer sun! The ship is a wonderful pretend play feature, and the London plane tree which graces the grassy park area is majestic.
