Post Office Increases Price of Stamps
A first-class stamp has risen to 49 cents, up from 46 cents.

Sending a letter costs a bit more today. TheĀ U.S. Postal ServiceĀ has increased the price of stamps.
On Jan. 26 theĀ cost of a first-class postage stampĀ rose to 49 centsĀ from 46 cents, according toĀ The Washington Post.Ā
A book of first-class, one-ounce stamps will cost $9.80. Forever Stamps purchased before the increase will still be valid for all one-ounce letters.Ā
The U.S. Postal Serviceās regulator approved the increase of about 6 percent, but rejected a request for a permanent increase.
According to the USPS, the increases include:
- LettersĀ (1 oz.) ā 3-cent increase to 49 cents
- Letters additional ouncesĀ āĀ 1-cent increase to 21 cents
- Letters to all international destinationsĀ (1 oz.) ā $1.15
- PostcardsĀ ā 1-cent increase to 34 cents
