RWU Hosting Panel Discussion on Rhode Island and Public Corruption

Is 'Rogue's Island' myth or reality? Panel will mull state's reputation for Crime & Corruption.

BRISTOL-WARREN, RI - From Roger Williams University: The Roger Williams University School of Justice Studies and the RWU School of Law are co-sponsoring a panel discussion on Rhode Island and Public Corruption this Wednesday, Oct. 4.

The event, which starts at 7 p.m. in the RWU Law Appellate Courtroom (Room 283), will include former U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha, former Rhode Island Attorney General Arlene Violet and former North Providence Town Councilman Paul F. Caranci.

The ā€œCrimetownā€ podcast series focused its first season on Providence, quickly shooting to No. 1 on the iTunes charts and further cementing Rhode Island’s reputation for crime and corruption. Is this reputation based more on perception than reality? Does it represent an outdated version of Rhode Island or is it still a matter of pressing public concern? What are the causes of public corruption in Rhode Island? What has been done about it and what remains to be done to address that problem? The panel will answer these questions and more.
