RWU Hosts Theatre Series for Performing Arts Center's 25th Anniversary

A series of performances will be available to the public at the RWU Performing Arts Center in March

In continuation of the 25th anniversary celebration of the University’s Barn Performing Arts Center, will host a series of theatre and dance performances in February and March that will showcase the talents of both RWU students and professional performers. Among the series highlights is a free performance by the Hilary Easton + Company, a New York City-based experimental dance group.

 The following performances will be offered on dates through March.

  • “The Beaux’ Stratagem” Theatre Performance:            
    February 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m.; February 26 at 2:00 p.m.; March 1-3 at 7:30 p.m.
    General admission $10; Students and seniors $5
    Written by George Farquhar and directed by RWU Professor of Theatre Peter Wright, the 18th century comedy tells the story of two young men who have fallen on hard times and plan to travel through the English countryside stealing the hearts and money of young heiresses.
  • Hilary Easton + Company Dance Performance:
    March 5 at 7:30 p.m.

    Often praised for its wit and spark, the experimental contemporary dancecompany will perform “Light and Shade,” an evening-length duet for Emily Pope-Blackman and Michael Ingle investigating the nature and confines of intimacy. The program is part of the University’s Alive! Arts Series, created to support performing arts within the greater RWU community through a succession of free performances by nationally-known artists.
  • Junior/Senior Dance Concert:                                                    
    March 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m.
    General admission $5; Students and seniors $3
    The annual Junior/Senior Dance Concert, which features original works by junior and senior dance and performance studies majors, will take place on March 7 and 8.

All performances are open to the public and will take place at The Barn Performing Arts Center located on Roger Williams University’s Bristol campus at One Old Ferry Road. For more information, call the Performing Arts Center at 401-254-3626.
