RWU Symposium Explores Preservation in the 21st Century

More than 50 students and community partners will gather at Roger Williams University this Saturday, Oct. 1, for the Looking Forward Symposium, a meeting to engage the new generation of preservationists as they create a vision for what is to be preserved in New England in the 21st century.
The symposium – the first of its kind and sponsored by Historic New England in partnership with RWU – is part of Historic New England's centennial celebration and is committed to creating dialogue around the next hundred years of preservation in the region.

Among the day's highlights are a keynote address by Ned Kaufman, Ph.D., author of "Place, Race and Story: Essays on the Past and Future of Historic Preservation," discussions led by industry leaders from Goody Clancy and CUBE design, and sessions on subjects including preservation treatment and advocacy and activism.

Experts including Phillip C. Marshall, professor of historic preservation at Roger Williams University, and Sally Zimmerman, manager of historic preservation at Historic New England, are also available for interviews this week.
