Sunday's Schoolyard Market Cancelled to Respect Fallen Bristol Green Beret

"We feel strongly. . .as a matter of respect for the McKenna family and our community," organizers said.

This Sunday’s Schoolyard Market at Hope & Main in Warren has been cancelled out of respect for fallen Bristol Army Special Forces Soldier 1st Sgt. P. Andrew McKenna Jr.

“We feel strongly that as a matter of respect for the McKenna family and our community, it would not be appropriate for us to host the market alongside an event that is so incredibly meaningful and somber. Instead, the Schoolyard will serve as an extra parking area for overflow from the church,” said Ali Montagnon, director of events for Hope & Main and Schoolyard Market Manager.

The entire East Bay community, along with all Rhode Islanders, have been heavy-hearted after hearing about McKenna’s death in Afghanistan after a suicide bombing attack outside the Special Forces’ Camp Integrity in Kabul.
