Second Arrest Stems from Police Chase
Damaged vehicle owner arrested after reporting incident following police chase.

Following the on Monday, Dec. 20, David Arruda, 25, of Tiverton, was arrested and taken into custody by . But there was a second arrest that stemmed from the police chase.
According to police, Arruda had been taken away from the scene and officers were surveying the area when a man pulled up in a vehicle and approached officers at the top of Annawamscutt Drive. The man, Steven Medeiros, 45, of Warwick, reportedly claimed that his vehicle had been struck by Arruda's truck during the chase and that he wanted to report it.
Police said that when the Medeiros exited his vehicle and approached the officer, he showed signs of intoxication and smelled of alcohol. According to police, Medeiros was given a sobriety test, which he failed, and also refused a breathalyzer. Police also reportedly searched his vehicle and found marijuana.

Medeiros was arrested on Monday, Dec. 20, for possession of marijuana, DUI, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
